The 1st Fort Frances Sparks and Brownies made “survival bags” for the firefighters in Fort Frances and Watten back on Jan. 14. The bags included specially-selected candy treats with messages, including Life Savers (to remind firefighters of the many times they’ve been one), Starbursts (for that burst of energy they’ll need on the job), Hershey Kisses (because they deserve lots of kisses for all that they do), gum (to help the unit stick together), Peppermint Patties (to help keep their cool), and Snickers (to remind them to keep a sense of humour). The youngsters also had a chance to ask some questions and share some knowledge with the firefighters.
