KEN McKINNON

I, Ken McKinnon, am running for reeve for the Municipality of La Vallee for another term. The following are some of my past experiences.
I retired from the Ministry of Transportation and Communications with 35 years of service. My early years with the ministry were with the Engineering Department on highway road construction; later years were with the Municipal Section working with municipalities and unorganized townships throughout Rainy River District.
I have served on the following boards: Rainy River Valley Agricultural Society, Rainy River Cattlemen’s Association, Rainycrest, Community Futures, and Northwestern Health Unit, and presently sit on the Rainy River District Social Services Administration Board.
I also served on the township council for one term and four terms as reeve.
My past experiences will be beneficial in dealing with concerns of the public on issues that may arise in the future. This past term, we have been able to correct some of the maintenance and parking problems with the Devlin Community Hall.
With the initiation of bridge rehabilitation and roadside ditching and gravelling, we have been able to make some long-term improvements to our road system.
The township’s road system is the most important part of our infrastructure and it is my hope to continue these improvements.
During our past term, we have been able to keep our tax increase to a minimum and this would be my priority in the future.
