Local members of the Border Figure Skating Club had an impressive showing during the “Icebox Days” competition on the weekend over in International Falls.
Adalynn Seguin claimed third in the Basic 1 elements while Tayah Cumming nabbed second in Basic 2 elements.
Aubrey Johnson, meanwhile, took second spot in the Basic 3 elements, with Bryden Strachan right behind in third.
Grayson Wright had a third-place finish in the Basic 4 elements group ‘A.’
Leslie Anderson finished third in the Basic 4 elements group ‘B’ while Lila Black also was third in the Basic 5 elements.
Dominique Lamaire garnered third in the pre-free skate compulsory.
Whitney Williamson was a standout, claiming first in each of the free skate 3 compulsory, free skate interpretive, pre-preliminary jumps, and pre-preliminary spins.
Rachel Ste. Croix claimed second in each of the free skate 3 compulsory, pre-preliminary jumps, and pre-preliminary spins while also placing fourth in the free skate interpretive.
Peyton Jourdain was tops in both the no test compulsory and no test jumps.
In team events, the SPS-Basic 3 team of four–comprised of Adalynn Seguin, Tayah Cumming, Bryden Strachan, and Aubrey Johnson–skated to top spot.
The Basic 4-6 trio of Grayson Wright, Leslie Anderson, and Lila Black placed third.
And in the free skate team event, the trio of Whitney Williamson, Rachel Ste Croix, and Peyton Jourdain nabbed first place.
Coach Ashley Cumming noted the skaters all skated very well and that she, along with Shelley Douglas, are very proud of them.
Up next for the local club is the annual Sunset Country competition and testing this Friday through Sunday (Jan. 26-28) in Dryden.
