Hailey Beaudry’s Northern Ontario rink has seen its run come to end at the Canadian Junior Curling Championships being held in Shawinigan, Que.
The squad, which curls out of the Fort William C.C. in Thunder Bay, fell 6-5 to Alberta this morning to finish with a 3-7 record overall after going winless in the four-game championship round.
They were dumped 9-2 by New Brunswick yesterday afternoon, then were beaten 5-3 by Nova Scotia last night.
Beaudry’s rink, comprised of fellow ex-Muskie Erin Tomalty (lead), along with Kendra Lemieux (third) and Emily Cooney (second), had advanced to the championship round after finishing preliminary play with a 3-3 record.
Nova Scotia (9-1) earned a bye to Sunday’s final while New Brunswick and Quebec (8-2) will square off in tomorrow’s semi-final.
In men’s play, Northern Ontario’s Tanner Horgan (Sudbury) lost 6-5 to B.C. this morning but still earned a bye to Sunday’s final by finishing with an 8-2 record overall.
Two tie-breakers are needed to determine the semi-finalists as Ontario, Alberta, B.C., and Manitoba all finished at 7-3.
The men’s and women’s semi-finals and finals will be aired live on TSN.
