Three drunk drivers nabbed over holidays

On Jan. 1 around 12:10 a.m., Rainy River District OPP officers were on patrol within the Town of Fort Frances when they observed a Highway Traffic Act infraction on the 500 block of King’s Highway.
Officers then conducted a traffic stop.
The driver, a 22-year-old woman from Fort Frances, was arrested and transported to the OPP detachment for breath tests.
The vehicle was towed from the scene and impounded for the mandatory seven days.
The driver subsequently was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and having care or control of a vehicle with a blood alcohol level over .08 mg.
She also was charged with theft of a motor vehicle, failure to remain at the scene of an accident, and driving with no licence.
She will appear in court here Jan. 29.
On Sunday around 10:25 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on the 300 block of Front Street.
A 29 year old female failed the roadside test and was arrested at the scene.
The motor vehicle was towed and the driver brought to the Fort Frances detachment for further tests.
She subsequently was charged with driving a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol content over 0.08 mg.
She will appear in court Feb. 12.
And in the early-hours of the Dec. 26, members of the Rainy River OPP detachment were contacted by the Canada Border Services Office at the international port of entry here and advised of a 66-year-old Watten Township man having failed the roadside test.
Officers attended and the male was transported to the Fort Frances detachment for tests.
He subsequently was charged with driving a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol level over .08 mg.
He also will appear in court Feb. 12.
