Three join Legion ladies executive

Press Release

The Legion Ladies Auxiliary to Br. #29 met on Nov. 8, with 27 members in attendance.
Alfreda Easton called the meeting to order, followed by committee reports being read and dealt with.
A big thank you was extended to all members for the hard work it took to pull of another successful Remembrance Day Tea held on Nov. 5.
Elections were held, with branch president Ray Watson and first vice-president Warren Anderson presiding.
New on the executive for 2018 are Barb Everett (assisting with publicity), Cindy Noble (assisting with membership), and Christina McDougall (entertainment).
We still have two positions vacant (Secretary and Ways and Means).
If you are interested in these very important positions, call Alfreda Easton at 274-9105.
Donations being made in the spirit of the upcoming season are to the Salvation Army, the Loaves and Fishes soup kitchen, and the community Christmas dinner.
We would not be able to make these donations without the support of the community in all our fundraising events.
The auxiliary’s next monthly supper will take place Friday, Nov. 24, featuring roast pork and all the fixings on the menu.
A 50/50 draw also will be held that evening.
The cost is $15/ plate, with doors opening at 4:30 p.m.
Take-outs are available by calling 274-3772.
The next general meeting will be held Wednesday, Dec. 13 at 6 p.m., followed by a Christmas supper and party.
A $10 gift exchange also will be held and those attending are asked to bring a non-perishable item for the food bank.
This also will be a good opportunity to pay your 2018 membership dues.
The October early-bird membership draw winner was Sue Drew
The attendance draw was won by Leslie Bell while Sandy Pruys was the winner of the 50/50 draw.
If you would like to find out more about joining this group of fun and hard-working ladies, contact Cindy Noble at 274-6743.
