The local winners have been named in the Fort Frances Lions Club’s annual peace poster contest, who now will be sent on to the “district” level.
The winners were Abbie Kenny (Fort Frances High School), Joyce Wu (Robert Moore), Shya Lee Johnson Luoma (J.W. Walker), Camile (St. Francis), and Gracie Smith (Crossroads).
The honourable mentions for each school included:
•Jorja Pope, Haleigh DeGagne, and Terra Carlson (FFHS);
•Torrie Spence, Anna Gagne, and Cerenity Morrisseau (Robert Moore);
•Angelina Spuzak, Madison Costall, and Emma Bodnarchuk (J.W. Walker);
•Macy (last name not given), Kaleigh Walton, and Montana Plasky (St. Francis); and
•Cohen Robinson, Piere Peterman, and Sonia Hendrikx (Crossroads);
The posters are judged on originality, artistic merit, and expression of the theme.
All submissions had to be original artwork drawn free-hand with no computer graphics.
The five winning posters, as well as the runners-up from all the schools, will be on display at the Fort Frances Museum until month’s end.
The poster contest is an international competition, with posters going through four levels of judging: local, district, multiple district, and international.
