Press Release
“Curling Across the Nation” is touring through Manitoba, Saskatchewan, North Dakota, Minnesota, and Northwestern Ontario from Nov. 14-27 as a way of supporting and promoting the sport of curling.
Rob Swan, who has curled in more than 270 different curling facilities in 10 countries in three years through “Curling Across the Nation,” has embarked on his fourth season.
“Curling Across the Nation” started out as a small fundraiser for his hometown rink, the Harvey Curling Club of Harvey Station, N.B.
Swan continues to fight for the future of the Harvey Curling Club and its survival. He has come up with new and exciting ways for the facility to generate revenue vital for its future.
He will continue to fight for its survival, along with supporting and promoting the sport wherever his travels take him.
Swan saw a need for his hometown rink to start some badly-needed renovations and set out to curl in 100 different curling facilities the first year, but continues to expand his commitment to the sport and his hometown.
He tries to visit as many curling facilities throughout the season, supporting and promoting the sport wherever he goes.
In October, 2016, Swan curled one game in 10 countries in 11 days, setting a new Guinness World Record.
Then this past October, he petitioned the New Brunswick government to take a first step in supporting the sport of curling in passing a bill enacting Curling Week in that province to take place during the third week of every January.
So through steps like this, Swan is trying to get the sport out there more and more.
He fully believes curling is the most unique sport in that it allows so much of Canadian society to take part in it.
His upcoming tour will take him to Fort Frances this Friday (Nov. 17) and then Keewatin on Saturday (Nov. 18)
When not out on the road, Swan tries to share everything he can on his social media sites to show what really is going on out there.
He hopes that in sharing ideas from one facility, others will benefit from those ideas.
