If the Muskie senior boys’ volleyball team hopes to claim NorWOSSA gold this coming Tuesday in Kenora, they’ll have to win the semi-final match first.
The Kenora Broncos secured first place–and the bye to the final–after beating the Dryden Eagles 3-1 yesterday in the regular-season finale for both squads.
Kenora finished with a 5-3 record while the black-and-gold took second spot at 4-4.
As such, Fort High will face Dryden (3-5) in the NorWOSSA semi-final, with the winner advancing to meet the Broncos later Tuesday.
The NorWOSSA champ moves on to the best-of-three NWOSSAA showdown, with a berth to OFSAA on the line.
The Muskie senior girls’ basketball team also will face Dryden in a semi-final clash this Tuesday in Kenora.
The Broncos finished atop the standings at 7-1 after edging the Eagles 35-32 yesterday.
Dryden wound up at 6-2 while the Muskies went winless (0-8).
The semi-final winner moves on to face the Broncos for the gold medal and an NWOSSAA berth.
Both Muskie junior squads, meanwhile, earned byes to their respective finals thanks to first-place finishes in the regular season.
They will face the semi-final winners between Dryden and Kenora.
The girls’ basketball squad went 8-0 during the regular season while the boys’ volleyball team wound up at 7-1.
There is no NWOSSAA competition at the junior level.
