Fort Frances Lakers’ forward Carter Chorney was among three players handed suspensions by SIJHL Commissioner Bryan Graham.
Chorney was suspended for three games under supplementary discipline after being assessed a match penalty in Saturday night’s 3-2 loss to the host Thief River Falls Norskies.
Chorney will miss Friday night’s game here against the Thunder Bay North Stars, Saturday’s road game versus the Dryden GM Ice Dogs, and then Tuesday night’s game against the host English River Miners.
Carter Pellerin of the North Stars, meanwhile, was suspended for five games under supplementary discipline after he previously was assessed a minor penalty for charging in a game Saturday against the Minnesota Iron Rangers.
As an affiliate player, Pellerin will serve his suspension with the Nipigon Elks of the Lakehead Junior Hockey League.
And Brendan Jay of the Ice Dogs was suspended one game under supplementary discipline.
He had been assessed a major penalty, and subsequent game misconduct, for fighting in Saturday’s game versus English River.
Jay missed the Ice Dogs’ game last night against those same Miners.
In other league news, Miners’ forward Jared Janke on Monday was named player-of-the-week for the period ending Oct. 29.
It marked the second-straight week he got the nod.
Jaedin Ness was the Lakers’ nominee.
