Team Canada topped Australia 6-5 in an extra end earlier today to improve to 4-0 at the world mixed curling championships taking place in Champéry, Switzerland.
The rink, which includes Stratton siblings Trevor Bonot and Jackie McCormick at skip and third, led 5-2 after six ends.
But Australia stormed back with two in the seventh and then a steal of one in the eighth to force the extra end.
Canada, with Megan and Kory Carr of Thunder Bay at lead and second, respectively, was to face winless Netherlands later today, with that outcome not available as of press time.
After a bye tomorrow morning (Swiss time), the Bonot rink will close out round-robin play in the final draw Thursday against Germany.
Canada sits atop the Group ‘E’ standings going into Draw 17, with Poland next at 3-1.
Germany and Turkey were tied for third at 2-1, followed by Australia in fifth at 1-3.
England and Netherlands round out the seven-team group at 0-3.
Canada, coached by Jim Waite, opened play Saturday with a 9-2 win over Turkey before downing Poland 5-3 in the early draw Sunday.
Bonot then rallied to top England 6-5 yesterday.
Trailing 5-4 through six ends, Canada tied it with one in the seventh before stealing the winning point in the eighth.
The top three finishers in each pool, plus the fourth-place team with the best Draw-Shot Challenge total, advance to the 16-team, single-knockout playoffs.
The playoffs begin Friday, with the semi-finals and gold- and bronze-medal games slated for Saturday.
