The Muskie golf team earned a fifth-place finish at the NWOSSAA championships held Tuesday in Thunder Bay.
Thunder Bay schools captured the top three places in the team standings.
St. Ignatius led the way with a total of 164, followed by St. Patrick (168) and Churchill (173).
The Dryden Eagles were next at 176, followed by Fort High (186), St. Thomas Aquinas of Kenora (197), and Lake Superior (224).
Kendyn Faragher and Kaleb Bruyere led the Muskie contingent with scores of 46 for the tournament, which was shortened to nine holes due to the weather.
Cole Kowalski and Mikel Ward were next at 47, with Aiden Wielinga carding a 52.
Rounding out the Fort High crew was Matthew Gerstner at 56.
Cory Pharand of Westfort (Thunder Bay) topped the individual boys’ standings with a 37.
Dryden’s Jacob Lugli was second (38).
Cooper Anderson (Churchill) and Dylan Intini (Nipigon-Red Rock) tied for third at 39.
On the girls’ side, Lindy Leclerc of the Dryden Eagles won the NWOSSAA gold medal with a 55.
Faith Norton (Hammarskjold) took second place with a 58 while Jordan Sanderson of St. Thomas Aquinas was third (62).
In other Muskie news, the court teams took three of four games against the host Dryden Eagles in NorWOSSA regular-season action Tuesday afternoon.
The junior girls’ basketball squad improved to 4-0 with a 47-29 romp over the Eagles.
Carmen Hebert led the way with eight points.
But it was a different story for the senior girls, who fell 35-25 to remain winless in league play (0-4).
Ellie Petsnick topped the Muskies with 10 points.
Both boys’ volleyball teams, meanwhile, came home victorious from Dryden.
The senior squad evened it record at 2-2 with a 3-1 win in the best-of-five showdown by scores of 25-19, 25-14, 21-25, and 25-20.
The juniors also earned a 3-1 victory (25-17, 25-23, 22-25, and 25-16) to improve to 3-1 on the season.
All four squads will resume NorWOSSA play next Wednesday (Oct. 11) in Kenora against the Broncos.
