Emo hospital auxiliary keeping busy

Press Release

The Emo Hospital Auxiliary held its meeting on Sept. 14.
We look forward to our year ahead, in which we will be raising money for projects to help our Emo health centre as well as other Riverside Health Care needs.
We have 25 members but would love to have more. We encourage both men and women to join our Emo Hospital Auxiliary.
Membership is $5 a year.
Our first activity this fall is our tea on Friday, Oct. 13 from 1:30-3:30 p.m. at the Emo Legion.
Admission is $3.
There also will be a penny table, bake sale, white elephant table, craft sale, and raffles on many interesting items.
One, in particular, is the beautiful log house bird feeder made and donated by Joe and Maxine Irvine.
In December, we deliver Christmas gifts and sing carols to the residents of long-term care in our Emo health centre.
This is an example of some of the activities we participate in throughout the year with them.
Also in December, we participate in the annual “Holly Daze” Christmas parade, at which time we collect food along the parade route for our local food cupboard.
Our annual “Shamrock” tea and bake sale is held in the month of March in the hospital cafeteria.
Then in June, we hold our annual “Strawberry Social” in the cafeteria, as well.
Our big project this past year was raising funds for renovations in the lower level of the Emo health centre.
We are so profoundly grateful to the local businesses and private donors for their abundant generosity.
A big thank you, as well, to all who have attended our activities and helped to add monetarily to our projects.
Besides our teas, bakes sales, and raffles, we also have a Tuck Shop in the cafeteria, with local handmade items for sale.
Our Emo Hospital Auxiliary also looks after the “Lending Cupboard,” with items for loan such as wheelchairs, walkers, canes, crutches, bath chairs, etc.
Some members of our auxiliary also volunteer to serve the food in the hospital cafeteria on Monday to Friday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
Hot and cold meals are prepared on-site by the hospital kitchen.
We are looking forward to another productive year. Our next projects will be announced very soon!
