New mobile vet business up and running in district

Kingsford Veterinary Services, the new large-animal mobile vet service run by Stacey Angus, is now up and running in the district.
“I just got my accreditation last week so the business is just new,” Angus told the Times.
“I’m super-excited to be back home in the district, and to be back with friends and family,” she added.
Angus was born and raised in the area but has been living in Manitoba for the past 10 years, where she was a veterinarian.
Recently, she moved into her grandmother’s old house north of Emo and decided to open a large-animal veterinary service here.
Angus said she will offer care for horses but it is the food animals (i.e., cattle, sheep, and pigs) that are her main focus.
“That’s my passion,” she stressed. “Food animals are what I grew up loving.”
Angus said she’ll be offering a wide range of mobile services for the district.
“Herd health, [pregnancy] checks, vaccinations, protocols, security audits, necropsies, or c-sections,” she cited.
“Anything you need for a cow I can do,” she vowed.
Angus said there definitely are a lot of large-animal clients in the area, adding people have been asking for more vet services locally for a while now.
“I’m already up and running, with appointments for tomorrow actually,” she noted Monday.
“The cattle sale is coming up, so everyone wants preg. checks and other checks so they can make a better decision on what to sell,” she explained.
Angus conceded business for a veterinarian can be sporadic and noted it changes with the seasons.
“Right now, people are wanting preg. checks but business will slow down soon, then it will pick up and calving season gets busy again,” she remarked.
Angus will be based out of her home north of Emo, which she said is convenient for farmers there, but also will have a range that covers the entire area.
“I can serve the entire Rainy River District and I’ve already been receiving calls from the Dryden area, too,” she noted.
“Mileage is the only problem, but really I can do anywhere in Ontario and Manitoba because I still have my Manitoba vet licence,” she added.
For now, Angus can be reached by calling her cellphone at (807) 271-5541 for appointments or any questions.
