The Fort Frances Choraliers, led by Diane Maxey, are welcoming new voices to join them for this year’s Christmas cantata.
“I want my other regulars back, of course, but we’re always looking for new ones,” she told the Times.
“I’ve got a couple of younger ones coming in from the high school this year so that is awesome.
“I’ve had a couple of people call me already,” Maxey added. “That’s super. They’re more than welcome.
“Anybody who sings and is interested in the music program at the high school, I’d love to have come join us,” she enthused.
Those who want to participate are urged to contact Maxey sooner than later so she can get CDs and songbooks to them prior to the first rehearsal in mid-October.
Maxey would like to have people pick them up from her or she can drop them off if necessary.
The cost for the music is $20 per singer.
Those interested are urged to give her a call at 274-7309 and let her know what part they sing, and get their respective CD.
The first cantata rehearsal is set for Monday, Oct. 16 at 7 p.m. at the New Beginnings Fellowship, and continue weekly through November.
The Choraliers no doubt will be in tip-top shape to provide a sneak preview for Rainycrest residents on Sunday, Dec. 3 at 1:30 p.m.
They’ll then perform the actual cantata on Sunday, Dec. 10 at 3 p.m. at the Townshend Theatre, with a second performance slated for Dec. 17 at 3 p.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church in International Falls.
The cantata is entitled “O Little Town of Bethlehem,” which has the same name as a cantata the Choraliers did here in the past but Maxey assured it’s brand new.
