The Fort Frances Lakers finished their SIJHL pre-season schedule winless after suffering a pair of losses to the English River Miners over the weekend.
Kyle Rosolowski, Ryan Patterson, and Nolan Dawson notched second-period goals Friday night in the Miners’ 3-1 win at the Ice For Kids Arena.
Westin Cardwell stopped a penalty shot to earn the victory between the pipes.
Jaedin Ness had the lone goal for the Lakers, with Rob Ivy taking the loss in net.
On Saturday, the Lakers almost come all the way back from a 5-2 deficit before falling 5-4 in Red Lake.
Joe Cirone scored twice for the Miners while Michael Di Lullo, Ethan Wong, and Boehn Mock added singles.
Cardwell relieved starter Josh Breznik.
Ness, Ian Jarvis, Asher Chorney, and Charlie Wilkie replied for the Lakers, with Michael Binczyk making 36 saves in defeat.
The regular season is set to begin this Friday (Sept. 22), with the Lakers hosting the Thief River Falls Norskies at 7:30 p.m.
