The toughest opponent for the Muskie junior girls’ basketball team this NorWOSSA season has been firmly established.
It will be their own overconfidence.
Fort High tore through both their NorWOSSA rivals en route to winning the Dryden Eagles’ pre-season tournament with a 3-0 record.
The Muskies beat the Kenora Broncos 46-25 in their opener, then routed the host Eagles 44-17.
They capped it off with a 50-13 shellacking of the St. Thomas Aquinas Saints (Kenora).
In senior girls’ hoops action, the Muskies went 1-3 to finish tied for fourth in Pool ‘B’ with the Churchill Bulldogs at a tournament in Thunder Bay.
Fort High split their first two games Friday, getting edged 24-21 by Dryden before downing Kenora 44-28.
The Muskies fell 13-12 to Churchill to start their Saturday, then lost another heartbreaker 21-19 to the Superior Collegiate and Vocational Institute Gryphons (Thunder Bay).
All four Muskie court teams begin their NorWOSSA seasons tomorrow in Kenora against the Broncos.
Their first home games will be held Sept. 26 versus Dryden.
