THUNDER BAY, Ont.–The mayor of Thunder Bay, Ont. has been charged with extortion and obstructing justice.
The OPP said the charges against Keith Hobbs are in connection with an investigation into allegations of criminal wrongdoing that include a municipal official and a local resident.
Police said two others, Marisa Hobbs, 53, and Mary Voss, 46, also have been charged with extortion.
They noted Marisa Hobbs also is facing an obstructing justice charge.
Police said the accused are scheduled to appear in court Sept. 26.
The charges come two months after the OPP charged Thunder Bay Police Chief J.P. Levesque with breach of trust and obstructing justice.
