One new fire was confirmed by yesterday evening in the Northwest Region.
It was located in the far north of the Nipigon District and already is reported as “out.”
One fire of note in the region is Nipigon #9, which also is located in the far north.
This lightning-caused blaze is just over 10,000 hectares in size, and is burning to natural boundaries of rivers and streams.
Ontario FireRangers are taking limited suppression action to stop its spread to the southeast.
Meanwhile, rain in the forecast may help moderate the fire hazard in the western sectors of the region.
But it is expected to remain “high” in the south, north, and eastern sectors.

In related news, there currently are 252 personnel from Ontario in British Columbia.
The province was scheduled to send close to 100 personnel to B.C. yesterday.
