A second tour of duty with the Fort Frances Lakers suits Cody Merritt just fine.
The club has announced the 20-year-old forward from Winnipeg will return to the SIJHL squad this fall.
“Cody is a player who works extremely hard to make himself better both on and off the ice,” Lakers’ head coach and general manager Wayne Strachan said in a press release.
“We will look to expand Cody’s role this season on our team, and hope he comes back hungry to build off his first season of junior hockey,” Strachan added.
“Good to see Cody back in a Lakers’ uniform.”
Merritt joined the team in December and finished with seven points in 37 regular-season games, along with 34 penalty minutes.
He was held pointless in eight playoff games.
The Lakers are holding a tryout camp July 14-16 at Bronco Arena in International Falls.
