Two new fires were confirmed in the Northwest Region yesterday, both of them caused by humans.
Dryden Fire #12, located near Glengoland Road, was reported as “under control” at 0.1 hectares in size.
Red Lake Fire #13, meanwhile, also was listed as “under control” at 01. ha.
Fort Frances Fire #9, a lightning-caused blaze burning near Clearwater Lake, was declared “out” on Sunday at 0.1 ha.
Nipigon Fire #9, located near Keezhik Lake, was listed as “being observed” at 45 ha.
It was confirmed on July 1 and is 40 km northwest of the community of Eabametoong.
Kenora Fire #18, located near Kakagi Lake, was declared “out” on June 30 at 0.1 ha.
The forest fire hazard is “low” to “moderate” in the southern sectors of the region, and “moderate” to “high” in the northern sectors.
