Step right up!
The Centra Pipeline circus is about to begin, featuring Max Williams in the role of ringmaster.
Williams set a new league-high for goals in one game this season with five in Centra’s 8-1 romp over Pharmasave in Borderland Soccer League men’s division play Monday night.
Williams leads in the men’s division goal-scoring race with nine for first-place Centra (5-0).
Jeff Hyatt (two) and Niko Veldhuisen also scored in what was a long night for keeper Steve Hands and the defence for Pharmasave (1-6), which missed a chance to move ahead of CJ Contracting (1-4-1) for third place.
Tyler Hamm and Britt Green split time between the pipes for Centra.
Mike Webb booted a penalty kick for Pharmasave’s only tally.
Second-place Manitou Forest Products (3-0-1) squared off against CJ Contracting last night, with the outcome unavailable as of press time.
In women’s play, Maggie Jean, Mika Kooistra, Sara Kellar, Courtney Roach, and Myla Angus all scored as Al’s Racquet Stringing earned a 5-3 win over La Place Rendez-Vous/Taggs on Monday evening.
Macey McMillen and Samara Payne each played a half in goal for Al’s (2-1-1).
Tianna Veldhuisen (two) and Jamie Spencer scored in a losing cause for Vous/Taggs (1-2-1).
Taylor Steinke and Alina Eldridge shared keeper duties.
The two teams will face off again this Monday at 7 p.m.
