Volunteers to be feted

A total of 21 residents of Fort Frances and surrounding areas, including Atikokan, Mine Centre, and Emo, will receive the Ontario Volunteer Service Award in a ceremony tomorrow night.
It will take place at 7 p.m. at La Place Rendez-Vous.
The recipients will be recognized for their dedication and continuous years of service to local organizations–sometimes up to 60 years.
Among this year’s recipients are Kiwanis and Lions Club members and Legion members.
Other organizations with volunteers being recognized include:
•the Royal Canadian Air Cadets;
•Atikokan Non-Profit Daycare Corp.;
•Fort Frances High School First Medical Responders;
•Girl Guides of Canada-Ontario Administrative Community 36; and
•Northwest Community Legal Clinic.
This is one of 55 Volunteer Service Awards ceremonies taking place across the province this spring.
By the end of these ceremonies, more than 11,000 volunteers will have been recognized.
