Town council will receive a pair of presentations at its regular meeting tonight–one about healthy water, the other about healthy citizens.
Local teacher Jody Bonner-Vickers will speak about a binational initiative on May 30 to raise awareness of the Rainy-Lake of the Woods Watershed and promote stewardship of the water quality within it.
This project will involve applying a painted stencil beside each of the 46 storm drains along the waterfront.
These will read, “No Dumping: Drains to River,” along with an image of a fish.
Council then will hear a presentation from Jessica Logozzo, director of Health System Development and Integration for the North West Local Health Integration Network.
The delegations are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
The committee of the whole will meet first at 5:30 p.m., but will go in-camera for an indefinite length of time to discuss four items.
Other business tonight includes:
•a day care user fee bylaw update;
•a request to waive building permit fees for the construction of the Rainy Lake Square;
•a licence of land use for a ramp at RBC Royal Bank (343 Scott St.); and
•the awarding of the tender for the town’s 2017 road reconstruction, watermain, and sewer replacement.
