Muskies earn three wins

It nearly was a perfect day for Muskie soccer yesterday in Kenora.
The boys’ squad widened its first-place lead atop the NorWOSSA standings with a pair of 2-1 wins over the host Kenora Broncos and Dryden Eagles.
Chase McGuire and Aaron Bujold bulged the twine for the Muskies (4-0) against the Broncos while McGuire and Nick Hahkala, with his team-leading fourth of the season, tallied versus the Eagles.
Cole Kowalski went the distance in goal in both games.
As for the Muskie girls, Pasquel Shortreed netted a pair of goals to pace Fort High to a 4-0 blanking of Kenora for its first win of the season.
Maggie Jean and Aurora McRitchie added singles for the Muskies (1-2-1) while Carmen Godin earned the shutout in goal.
The afternoon game saw a more experienced Eagles’ team again flex its muscles over the youthful Muskies in a 3-0 win.
Godin took the loss in goal.
Both Muskie teams head back to Kenora tomorrow for the two-day Broncos Challenge Cup tournament.
