Muskie Aaron Bujold is down one flight in men’s singles play at the OFSAA badminton championships in Pain Court.
Bujold, the reigning NWOSSAA champ making his third-straight OFSAA appearance, had a bye to the second round yesterday.
He then rallied to beat Jeff Zhang (WOSSAA) by scores of 15-21, 21-15, and 21-19.
But that earned him a matchup against the top-ranked player in the division, Brian Yang (York Region Athletic Association).
Yang lived up to his billing–dispatching Bujold quickly by a 2-0 margin (21-10/21-6).
That shuffled Bujold down to the ‘B’ bracket, where he was to face Augusta Li (LOSSA) earlier today (score unavailable as of press time).
Meanwhile, Jackson Arpin of the Rainy River Owls is down to his last chance after going 0-2 yesterday to drop down to the ‘C’ bracket.
The Owls’ ace lost his first match to Mackenzie Bergen-Truscott (WOSSAA), then fell to Lewis Lui (GBSSA).
His match scores were unavailable at press time.
Arpin must win out to stay in the tournament, starting with a match against Joseph Lu (CWOSSA) earlier today (score unavailable at press time).
The tournament wraps up tomorrow.
