It looks as though the organizing committee for a popular fundraiser making its return after a one-year absence won’t have to rely on a wing and a prayer to have a successful evening.
The Ducks Unlimited Canada 33rd Fundraising Banquet & Auction is set for Friday, May 12 at the Fort Frances Curling Club.
Event co-organizer Charles Fisher said ticket sales remain strong.
“There’s still some left but people have got to get them fast,” he warned.
“It’s going to be sold out so if you want them, you’ll have to move quickly.”
The event did not take place last year due to a lack of organizers, but has been revived with the help of Fisher and his group.
“On our Facebook page [Fort Frances Ducks Unlimited], we have been getting lots of positive feedback, and we’ve been posting pictures and videos of some of the prizes,” noted Fisher.
“We’re getting lots of great donations from local artists and businesses.”
A more visual reminder of the event is apparent this week, with window displays at Northwoods Gallery & Gifts, McTaggarts, and The Great Bear featuring some of the items that will be up for bid.
Tickets, which cost $50 each or $90/couple, are available at the Times’ office or online at www.ducks.ca/events
Full tables for groups of eight or 10 also can be purchased.
Local chef Todd Moxham will be providing a prime rib dinner for the event, which gets underway with a social hour beginning at 5:30 p.m.
Dinner will follow at 6:30.
