Rainy River District School Board trustees will receive the 2017 summer works update at tonight’s regular monthly meeting, which takes place at 7 p.m. in the Atikokan High School.
Summer projects for all facilities across the district will include fire alarm and sprinkler inspections, boiler and gas system maintenance, and the continuation of summer painting projects.
Gymnasiums and playgrounds also will be inspected and play areas will receive new sand.
Upgrades specific to Fort Frances High School will consist of new doors for the original three entry ways, second-floor hallway floor replacements, and new clocks that automatically update the time.
The wall between the wood and auto shops also will be closed in while the phone and public address system will be replaced.
Other notable upgrades include new water treatment systems at Crossroads, Sturgeon Creek, Nestor Falls, and McCrosson-Tovell schools.
Robert Moore and J.W. Walker both will receive upgrades and additions to their playground equipment.
Riverview School and Rainy River High School will look forward to a consolidated K-12 school while Donald Young School in Emo will complete construction and move into the new classroom wing over the summer.
“The annual summer works program enhances our learning spaces, and provides for students and staff safety through inspections of our building safety systems, the modification of spaces for identified and approved needs, and preventative maintenance to ensure reliability of our operations,” the report reads.
