Two trips to Atikokan in five days paid off with an assured journey to Kenora next week for those who love raising a racket.
A total of 11 Muskies earned berths at the NorWOSSA badminton finals this coming Wednesday after nabbing top-three finishes yesterday at the qualifier in Atikokan.
Aaron Bujold (senior boys’ singles), Michaela Putzer (senior girls’ singles), and Lauryn Marchant and Tayah Badiuk (senior girls’ doubles) all topped their respective divisions.
Dakota Jernberg captured second place in junior boys’ singles play while Sam Westover (senior girls’ singles) and Isabella Ward (junior girls’ singles) notched third-place finishes.
Also capturing third place were the teams of Mykenzie Borger and Sam Berg (senior girls’ doubles) and Ryley Booth and Owen Riches (junior boys’ doubles).
Nearly joining their teammates were the junior girls doubles duo of Janissa Judson and Andrea Schram, who missed by one spot in finishing fourth.
Meanwhile, the Rainy River Owls will send three singles’ competitors and one doubles’ team to Kenora.
Bethany Sinninghe topped the senior girls’ singles division while Jackson Arpin took second in senior boys’ singles.
In junior play, Reece Chorney took third in boys’ singles, as did the duo of Paige Stamler and Christian Tiboni in mixed doubles.
The top two finishers in each division at NorWOSSA advance to the NWOSSAA finals April 19 in Wawa.
