On Friday around 7 p.m., the Kenora OPP responded to a multiple-vehicle collision on Highway 17 at Burma Road.
No injuries were reported but the highway was closed for several hours to remove vehicles and debris.
At 10:30 p.m., during the highway closure, police received a complaint of an eastbound vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed.
Police patrolled the highway for the vehicle and spotted the suspect vehicle approaching the checkpoint at the road closure.
The vehicle was travelling at a high rate of speed and drove onto the shoulder of the highway to avoid police.
Officers east of the road closure were advised to keep a lookout for the suspect vehicle but they patrolled the area with negative results.
The suspect vehicle previously was reported as stolen in Manitoba.
On Saturday around 12:30 a.m., police received a complaint of suspicious people inside of a residence in Pellatt Township.
Police attended the residence and spotted the suspect vehicle in the driveway.
Officers located and arrested the two occupants inside the residence.
As a result, a 46-year-old Midland, Ont. man has been charged with break and enter a dwelling with intent to commit an indictable offence, two counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
He also was charged with failing to stop at the scene of an accident and three counts of failing to comply with a recognizance.
The passenger, a 21-year-old female from Winnipeg, was charged with break and enter a dwelling with intent to commit an indictable offence and two counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
