The OFSAA hockey planning committee’s “Paint the Town Black & Gold” contest is asking local homes and businesses to decorate with Muskie colours or the colours of their favourite NHL team.
This is an opportunity for businesses and homeowners around the district to show support for the Muskies as they prepare to take on the best high school teams in the province from March 21-23 here.
When Fort Frances last hosted the OFSAA hockey tournament more than a decade ago, the community got involved in a big way by decorating homes, storefronts, and businesses.
Committee member Brenda Kellar hopes the contest–and the décor–will be bigger and better this time around.
“Let’s bring back the spirit of 2006 by welcoming all of the out-of-town hockey players, coaches, managers, family, and friends by decorating your home or business in a hockey theme . . . or better yet, in true Muskie fashion,” said Kellar.
“Let’s paint the district in black-and-gold in support of the home team on their quest for gold,” she enthused.
Those interested in participating have until March 16 to register and decorate.
Muskie players and coaches will judge, with the winners being announced March 20.
Prizes will be awarded to the first-place through fourth-place entries.
