Teams double up in spike league

“Would you like to go for Double Jeopardy where the scores can really change?”
Don’t mind if we do, John McClane.
Some of the “Die Hards” of the Fort Frances Women’s Volleyball League had more up for grabs than usual last night in their games at Fort Frances High School and St. Michael’s School.
With time running out to get in all the makeup games needed to be held before the end of the season, it was decided two of last night’s games would get double the points for the team that gained any to make up for games not played on Oct. 13.
Bump It Up was the biggest beneficiary of that, picking up the maximum six points possible last night and then receiving another six points for their missed game in October.
That shot them up to sixth place with 61 points, putting them only one behind Scared Hitless (with a six-point evening last night) and Gillons’, who are tied for fourth with 62.
How I Set Your Mother took full advantage of a double default by second-place Kiss My Pass to widen its lead atop the standings, nabbing six points to reach 94 for the year.
Stuck at 84, Kiss My Pass could only sit idly by as third-place No Diggity also picked up a half-dozen points to move up within striking distance with 81.
Let’s Talk About Sets suffered a costly shutout in the night’s action, sinking to seventh (58).
One Hit Wonders is in eighth (38), while The Inseiners in ninth (31) are being closely pursued by Serves You Right in 10th (30), which also nailed down six points.
Arm & Hammer remains 11th (23), while Rockstars were shut out for the third straight outing and sit in 12th with eight points.
League play resumes next Thursday (March 2) at 7 p.m.
