It wasn’t often last season that Maggie Jean was held off the scoresheet.
After being blanked last week, she wasn’t about to make it a habit.
The reigning Golden Boot Award winner netted her first two goals of the new season to help Kicker Instinct take over first place in the Borderland Women’s Indoor Soccer League with a 5-1 thumping of Tough Enough last night at Fort High.
Jean had plenty of help as Kicker Instinct (2-0) also got goals from Katie Beninger, Becky Selman, and Mandy Blake.
Sara Roach tallied in a losing cause for last-place Tough Enough (0-2).
The night’s second game saw Goal Diggers double D-Feeters 4-2.
The teams are tied for second place with 1-1 records
Paige Nelson of International Falls notched a hat trick to lead Goal Diggers while Tanya Hughes got the other goal.
Bryanna Dustin and Jaymee Fiset replied for D-Feeters.
The league will take next week off due to final exams being held in high school gym.
Next action will be Feb. 1, with D-Feeters facing Kicker Instinct while Goal Diggers meet Tough Enough.
