It was Christmas come early for Gillons’ last night.
A season-high six-point haul vaulted the squad into seventh place in the Fort Frances Women’s Volleyball League in the final set of matches before the holiday break.
Gillons’, the only team to garner the maximum points last night, moved up to 32 points for the season to nudge past One Hit Wonders (31), who only collected three points last night.
Due to St. Michael’s School being unavailable, four teams were sidelined last night, including second-place Kiss My Pass (60), third-place No Diggity (50), sixth-place Let’s Talk About Sets (38), and 10th-place Serves You Right (20).
That opened the door for the league-leading and defending champion How I Set Your Mother (67) to widen gap over the rest of the field with their five-point outing.
Scared Hitless (41) sits in fourth place—one ahead of Bump It Up (40).
The Inseiners currently hold down ninth place (22) while Arm & Hammer is 11th (13).
Rockstars were skunked for the sixth-straight outing to remain in the cellar (seven).
Action will resume Jan. 12 at 7 p.m. at Fort High and St. Michael’s.
