It will be a trip to Sudbury in February for four local bowlers.
Jeff Watts and Aaron Yaw teamed up to finish in second place at the zone round of the annual Hi-Low Doubles tournament over the weekend at Plaza Lanes here.
The duo wound up at +243 over their average during the five-game roll-off to nab the second and final berth to the provincial round Feb. 23-26 in Sudbury.
Watts, whose tournament entry average was 251, rolled games of 302, 193, 256, 198, and 268 to finish at minus-31.
But Yaw, a new bowler sporting a 116 average, had games of 131, 191, 184, 223, and 132 to wind up at +281.
The Dryden tandem of Scott Miner and Kennedy Ponton topped the 16-team field by finishing at +337 to earn the first provincial berth.
Miner, with a 215 average, led the way at +264 while Ponton, with a 146 average, was at +73.
The local team of Rob Paterson and Missy Wilson wound up third overall at +127.
Paterson (185 average) had scores of 184, 219, 340, 166, and 146 for a +130 while Wilson (161 average) had games of 171, 161, 152, 130, and 188 to finish at minus-three.
Meanwhile, local bowlers Len Noonan and Darren Revus took fifth place at +54.
Noonan (188 average) rolled games of 179, 227, 194, 165, and 161 to finish at minus-14 while Revus (162 average) had scores of 230, 152, 175, 132, and 189 to finish at +68.
The local father-son team of Mike and Dallas Gervais wound up eighth with a minus-seven total.
Dallas (209 average) had games of 215, 217, 179, 233, and 198 to finish at minus-three while Mike (152 average) rolled games of 145, 130, 183, 174, and 124 to sit at minus-four.
Fourth place went to the Dryden duo of Chris Rollins and Rob Alderice (+109), followed by Rick Howard and Lorne Hintz of Kenora in sixth (+49) and Myles Hall and Robert Keeper of Balmertown in seventh (+19).
Scooter Bowman and Sherry McCoy of Balmertown wound up in ninth place overall (minus-24), followed by Laurie Nolet and Terry Delaronde of Dryden (minus-37), Marcus Lendrum and Jenn Rollins of Dryden (minus-62), and Tom Sherrard and Brad Lavers of Dryden (minus-117).
Rounding out the Hi-Low Doubles entries were Denum Moore and Robert MacDougall of Kenora (minus-146), Terry Delaronde and Ben Galarneau of Dryden (minus-187), Linda Lacroix and Greg Mior of Kenora (minus-200), and Cindy Lapointe and Gail Skead of Kenora (minus-248).
In the Executive portion of the tournament, Times’ editor Mike Behan topped the six-bowler Presidents Division by finishing at +102 above his 217 average over five games.
Behan opened with scores of 261 and 223 before faltering with games of 182 and 194.
But sitting in fifth place at minus-eight going into the final game, Behan capped his day with a 327 to earn the lone provincial berth up for grabs in that division.
Behan earned a silver medal at the provincials held in Dryden this past February.
Myles Hall of Balmertown was second (+60), followed by Mike Pavey of Kenora (+48), Mike Magee of Kenora (minus-five), Scott Miner of Dryden (minus-30), and Ben Galarneau of Dryden (minus-80).
Local bowler Toni Benning took second in the Secretaries Division by finishing at +114 over her 206 average.
She had games of 184, 209, 201, and 218 before also finishing big with a 332.
Kennedy Ponton of Dryden topped the seven-bowler division by finishing at +182 above her 146 average.
But since Ponton already qualified for Sudbury by being on the winning Hi-Low team, the provincial berth went to Benning.
Robert Keeper of Balmertown finished third in the Secretaries Division (+61), followed by Sherry McCoy of Balmertown (+17), Catherine Dashnay of Dryden (+9), Linda Lacroix of Kenora (minus-38), and Trisha Lundstrom of Dryden (minus-157).
And in the five-bowler Treasurers Division, Kathy Bois of here wound up third overall by finishing at +58 above her 184 average with games of 210, 174, 173, 236, and 185.
Ted Lake of Dryden captured the division—and the provincial berth—by finishing at +119 above his 158 average.
Scooter Bowman of Balmertown finished in second place just one pin behind Lake (+118).
Jenn Rollins of Dryden finished fourth (minus-69) while Melanie Morris of Dryden was fifth (minus-141).
