The election is underway.
A total of 15 nominees are running for 14 seats on the Fort Frances Chamber of Commerce’s board of directors, including two vying for the role of president.
The executive and director nominees were announced Tuesday evening at the Chamber’s annual general membership meeting at La Place Rendez-Vous.
They include Lorne Duberry (TD Canada Trust), Jordan Forbes (Forbes Consulting Services), Pam MacKinnon (RBC Royal Bank), Mark Caron (M.L. Caron Electric), Travis Glowasky (Studio Gibbous), Paul Noonan (La Place Rendez-Vous), and Scott Krienke-Turvey (Ink Spotz Apparel+).
Also running are Mike Canfield (BDO & Company LLP), Gina Pope (Gillons’ Insurance), Bob Hamilton (Little Beaver Cultural Centre), Charleen Mallory, Doug Anderson (Betty’s Fort Frances), Kerry Zucchiatti (93.1 The Border), Sandra Turner (Confederation College), and Tim Spence (NCDS).
Vying for president are Travis Glowasky and Mark Caron.
Other executive nominees include Scott Krienke-Turvey for first vice-president, Jordan Forbes for second vice-president, and Mike Canfield for treasurer.
Voting began yesterday afternoon and will close at 5 p.m. on Dec. 13.
This year’s election is being conducted by paper ballot.
In accordance with Chamber bylaws, ballots have been distributed to the designated contact for each member of the general membership.
They also are available from the Chamber.
Each member will have the opportunity to submit one ballot.
They’ve been asked to select up to a maximum of 14 nominees for director positions, including their selection for president.
Once the director vote has been tallied, the position of Chamber president will be filled with the majority vote nominee who first has been successfully voted in as a director.
Ballots must be returned to the Chamber office in person or by mail, but will not be counted if received after Dec. 13.
