Press Release
The Rainy River District School Board is pleased to announce it ratified the tentative collective agreement with the Rainy River District OSSTF Occasional Teacher Local at its regular monthly meeting Nov. 1.
The board has 102 secondary occasional teachers.
The new agreement is in effect from Sept. 1, 2014 to Aug. 31, 2017, aligning with the provincial settlements at the central bargaining table.
The Ontario Secondary Teachers Federation of Ontario (OSSTF), the Government of Ontario, and the Ontario Public School Boards’ Association announced a ratified central agreement on Aug. 20, 2015.
The collective bargaining framework for the education sector features a two-tier bargaining process, or “central” and “local” bargaining as it often is referred to.
This means issues such as salary, benefits, and paid leaves are negotiated on a province-wide basis at a central table.
All other issues then are negotiated locally.
