Good luck—and good play—came in threes for the Muskies yesterday on home court.
It was a Muskie sweep in girls’ basketball against the Kenora Broncos, though in two very different fashions.
The senior squad took advantage of Kenora having just six players available to clobber the Broncos 65-15, outscoring an exhausted Broncos’ squad 39-4 in the second half.
Abby Sanders led the way with 14 points, with Alyssa Clendenning netting 13, Carmen Godin nine, and Sydney White eight.
The Muskies improved to 4-1 on the NorWOSSA season while Kenora remained winless (0-5).
Meanwhile, the junior girls’ game was a sloppy affair, with Fort High earning a 23-13 victory.
Both teams struggled for long stretches to get anything going offensively.
Adyson Wilson-Hands had a game-high five points for the Muskies (5-0) while Sarah Larson and Alina Eldridge had four points apiece.
Team leading scorer Grace Petsnick was held to just three points against winless Kenora (0-5).
In boys’ volleyball action yesterday, the senior Muskies (4-1) moved into sole possession of first place with a 3-1 win over the visiting Broncos (0-5) by scores of 25-11, 25-23, 20-25 and 25-21.
But in junior play, Fort High (1-4) fell 3-0 to the first-place Broncos (4-1) with Kenora winning 25-19, 25-22 and 25-23.
The senior boys next head to Dryden tomorrow for a two-day tournament.
All four teams resume NorWOSSA play next Thursday (Oct. 20) in Dryden.
