Samaria Smith, left, and Mya Smith participated in a memorial walk Saturday morning in support of family and friends of missing and murdered indigenous women—in particular their family member, Ashley Smith, who was murdered in 2007. The walk, which started at the Sorting Gap Marina, was preceded by a traditional sunrise ceremony and offerings at the Nanicost grounds, as well as a pancake breakfast at Our Lady of Lourdes Church on Couchiching.
