Muskie QB honoured

Mathieu Cornborough may have ran past the Muskies last week but Brandon Whitecrow in one way rose above the St. Norbert Celtics’ star.
The Fort High quarterback yesterday was named the Currie Division’s offensive player-of-the-week after putting in a terrific effort in the Muskies’ 45-29 loss to visiting St. Norbert last Friday.
Cornborough racked up five touchdowns and 211 yards rushing against the Muskies—and seemed a lock to win the award for the second-straight week.
But Whitecrow got the nod by setting a career high in completions and passing yardage in going 15-for-25 for 164 yards and three touchdowns, with just one interception.
“He’s played well,” head coach Mike Cuzzolino said about his pivot, who currently is tied for second in the division in touchdown passes with Dayton Black (Neelin Spartans) and third with 229 passing yards.
“He’s taking care of the football and trying to make plays,” noted Cuzzolino.
“Brandon has done well at finding open receivers,” he added. “He wants to win.”
Whitecrow and Black will square off tomorrow when the Muskies (0-2) travel to Brandon to face the Spartans (1-0).
