Members of the Treaty #3 Police Service initiated a traffic stop on Couchiching First Nation yesterday.
During the stop, officers seized cannabis marijuana, cocaine, Canadian currency, and items related to the sale of controlled substances, with an estimated street value exceeding $10,000.
As a result, a 33-year-old -Couchiching First Nation male and an 18-year-old male from Winnipeg were charged with possession of cocaine, possession for the purpose of trafficking a controlled substance, and possession of property obtained by crime.
Both have been held pending bail, and were to appear in court here this morning.
With the growing concerns of illicit drugs in First Nation territories, the Treaty #3 Police Service is mandated to identify local community drug dealers, investigate their illegal activities, and lay appropriate charges.
