Riverside Foundation for Health Care is excited to announce that this year’s Canada Day Cash Lottery was able to raise a net profit of over $16,000.
These profits will be used to purchase five high-low beds for Rainycrest Long Term Care Home.
The big draw took place July 1 at the Sorting Gap Marina amongst a small gathering of spectators.
The grand prize winner of $10,000 was Iris Shute of Devlin. Iris, who recently retired from Riverside Health Care, and has been a longtime supporter of the annual draw.
The second-place prize of $2,000 went to Joe Kneisz of Fort Frances, while the third-place prize of $1,000 went to Matthew Chilton of Fort Frances.
Meanwhile, Kenny Desjardins, Shane McDonald, Rick Johnson and Duane Cridland won $500 each.
The Riverside Foundation would like to congratulate the winners, and thank everyone who purchased a ticket this year.
This year’s lottery was able to exceed last year’s profits by just over $4,000.
The Canada Day Lottery continues to be such a success because of the supportive district we live in.
The Foundation is so thankful to all of the local businesses who help sell tickets and for all of the volunteers who help make this raffle a success.
A very special thank you goes out to Manitou Weather Station Fishing Lodge for their generous donation of our early bird prize, and to owners Duane and Grace Cridland who won $500, and generously donated it back to the Foundation.
The next big fundraiser for Riverside Foundation will be the annual fall gala.
“Mobsters and Dames” will take place Sept. 24 at Fort Frances Curling Club.
The Foundation will be asking guys to suit up and gals to dress to kill for this fun 1920s-inspired prohibition-themed event.
