Press Release
Fort Frances firefighter Rod Davis is retiring after 33 years of dedicated service as a volunteer and career firefighter.
The Fort Frances Fire and Rescue Service would like to thank Davis for his years of service to the community, and wish him a long and productive retirement.
Davis’ retirement generated a career vacancy in the fire department, and an internal competition resulted in the position being filled by volunteer/part-time firefighter Gavin Payne.
The Fort Frances Fire and Rescue Service looks forward to Payne providing the dedicated professional service the community has come to expect.
“The retirement of a senior person like Rod always leaves an experience gap in the system,” noted Fort Frances Fire Chief Frank Sheppard.
“However, the process of renewal and development of a new firefighter coming into the service will generate excitement and energy for the organization overall,” he added.
