One of the core members of the Fort Frances Lakers’ defence will be back in black and red again this fall.
Lakers’ head coach and general manager Wayne Strachan announced today that defenceman Brandon Zajicek will rejoin the team for the upcoming season.
“Brandon returns after playing a top-four role for us last season,” Strachan noted in an e-mailed statement.
“He is a good offensive defenceman who we will look to for leadership in our back end this season,” Strachan added.
“He isn’t afraid to get his nose dirty, his defensive game improved, and he is ready to have a strong year.”
Zajicek, who turns 20 on July 15, played 35 games during the regular season—garnering 23 points.
He added four assists in seven SIJHL playoff games but was held pointless in three games at the Dudley Hewitt Cup.
The Lakers will hold their summer tryout camp July 15-17 at Bronco Arena in International Falls.
