The wet weather kept fire activity relatively quiet over the weekend, with just one new blaze reported in the Northwest Region.
Nipigon Fire #17, located about 80 km northeast of Thunder Bay, was a grass fire ignited Saturday by a tree over a power line.
The Hurkett fire department responded and the fire was extinguished quickly at 0.1 hectares in size.
No new fires were reported yesterday.
Meanwhile, Red Lake Fire #3, Thunder Bay Fire #19, and Kenora Fire #18 remain “under control.”
The forest fire hazard is “low to moderate” as a result of recent rain in the region.
Lightning also tracked across the region over the past week.
Report forest fires by calling 310-FIRE (3473).
