Marlon Douglas is in mid-season form—and the season is barely underway.
Douglas scored his league-leading fourth goal as the defending men’s division champion Manitou Forest Products blanked Pharmasave 1-0 in the lone game in the Borderland Soccer League last night.
Douglas, who beat Pharmasave keeper Kamil Niemczyk, has scored in all three games for first-place Manitou (2-1).
James Pavier, meanwhile, recorded his first shutout of the season to keep Pharmasave winless (0-2).
In its season-opener Tuesday, Pharamasave also was unable to bulge the twine as they fell 1-0 to International Travel Services (1-1).
Max Williams netted the lone goal while Tyler Hamm earned the shutout.
On Monday night, Manitou was upended 2-1 by the La Place Rendez-Vous U18 Voyageurs (1-0) in a rematch of last year’s final.
Liam Metke and Conor McManaman eached scored against Pavier while Gavin Richardson and Cole Kowalski shared netminding duties.
Douglas had Manitou’s lone marker.
In women’s division play Tuesday, the Voyageurs continued their early-season offensive blitz with a 7-3 defeat of Taggs.
Sydney Radigan’s second hat trick in two nights paced the Vous (2-0).
Maggie Jean added a pair of goals while Jenny Hammond and Jessica Steele also scored.
Hammond and Bryanna Dustin split the work in goal.
Jess Caul scored all three goals for Taggs while Jess Badiuk took the loss in goal.
On Monday, the Vous crushed Al’s Racquet Stringing 8-1.
Radigan led the way with a hat trick, with Jean, Erin Tomalty, Taylor Croswell, Pasquel Shortreed, and Dustin also scoring.
Al’s (1-1) got its lone marker from Mika Kooistra.
League action continues tonight at 7 p.m. with Taggs taking on Al’s in the women’s division.
The men’s game will feature the Vous against ITS.
