Want to be part of the start to this year’s Canada Day celebrations in downtown Fort Frances?
The Shops on Scott (BIA) is putting out a call to vendors, clubs, and any groups to participate in this year’s “Mall Day,” which is slated for Thursday, June 30 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
“We’re tying it in with ‘Market Thursdays’ so we want to have as many vendors as possible—artisans, anything,” said Curvy Chick owner Jennifer Horton, who is spearheading “Mall Day.”
Downtown businesses also will be having sidewalk sales that day.
“It’s a great opportunity for the businesses on Scott Street, as well as for new people to come downtown,” said Horton.
“It’s always a fun time.”
Horton said “Mall Day” also is the perfect chance for service clubs, groups that are fundraising, and anyone who wants to hold kids’ activities to be where people will be the day before Canada Day.
For instance, the Riverside Foundation for Health Care will be downtown selling its “Canada Day Cash” lottery tickets to last-minute buyers.
The Shops on Scott also will have a booth with information panels showing the design for the future Rainy Lake Market Square.
Horton noted this is a good opportunity for the public to check out the design first-hand if they happened to miss last Thursday’s open house.
The 100 and 200 blocks of Scott Street will be closed to traffic for “Mall Day,” but the 300 block will be open to allow for more parking.
