Joerg Ruppenstein, president and CEO of the Fort Frances Power Corp., will give an update on FFPC activities and the electrical industry.
Ruppenstein last presented to town council in December, and the FFPC has committed to making more frequent reports to council.
Also tonight, council also will hear an economic development activity update from the Rainy River Future Development Corp. and a presentation from Mike Allison, sponsorship co-chair of the OFSAA Hockey 2017 committee.
The committee of the whole will meet first at 5:30 p.m., but will go in-camera for an indefinite amount of time to discuss two items (including a business opportunity and a potential property disposition).
Other business on the agenda includes:
•an update on capital projects;
•a request from the Fort Frances Canadian Bass Championship Inc. re: the FFCBC (July 20-23);
•a request from the Sister Kennedy Centre Board for its volunteer manager to receive an honorarium;
•a temporary traffic control bylaw for Colonization Road East during this summer’s road reconstruction and watermain/sewer replacement project;
•a report re: the Sunny Cove Camp rental schedule;
•a Vet Assistance Trust Fund contribution request;
•per diem and travel expense claims for Couns. June Caul and Doug Kitowski;
•a bylaw to amend certain user fees in 2016;
•a bylaw to authorize the execution of a contract with Makkinga Contracting & Equipment Rentals for road reconstruction and watermain/sewer replacement awarded through the public tender process; and
•a bylaw to authorize the signing of a service agreement with KC Contracting for caretaker services at Sunny Cove Camp.
