Margaret Froh of Barrie is the new president of the Métis Nation of Ontario.
Ballots from the May 2 election were tallied Tuesday and yesterday, with the official results announced last night.
Froh garnered 1,834 votes to beat Hank Rowlinson of Sudbury (1,469).
Gary Lipinski of Fort Frances did not seek re-election and is retiring from Métis politics.
In other results, France Picotte was elected as chair, Sharon McBride as vice-chair, and Tim Pile as secretary-treasurer.
Cameron Burgess and Marcel Lafrance were elected as Region 2 and Region 3 councillors, respectively, on the Provisional Council of the MNO.
Peter Rivers was elected as councillor for Region 9 while Jordyn Playne will be the Youth Council rep for Region 7.
There was no election for the Region 1 councillor (Fort Frances, Atikokan, Dryden, and Kenora).
Incumbent Theresa Stenlund of Kenora was acclaimed.
All other positions were acclaimed.

A total of 3,303 ballots were cast—1,105 more than during the last MNO general election in 2012.
