Dylan Robertson now has the SIJHL’s attention.
The Fort Frances Lakers’ forward yesterday was named the Amyotte’s Awards & Promotions player-of-the-week after chalking up nine points in three games.
Robertson has topped the SIJHL in scoring for most of the season and currently leads with 63 points—10 ahead of teammate Nick Minerva.
But it took until two weeks ago for the 20-year-old from Atlanta to earn his first weekly award.
Robertson also has a league-high six game-winning goals among his 28 tallies, which is tied for the most with Nicholas Nigro of the Thunder Bay North Stars.
But he may not get to add to his totals in the short term after sustaining a “middle body” injury in the Lakers’ 8-4 win over the North Stars this past Friday night.
He currently is listed as “day-to-day.”
Meanwhile, the Lakers’ current 11-game league winning streak move them up one spot to No. 6 in the CJHL’s weekly top 20 rankings.
The Lakers moved ahead of the Spruce Grove Saints (AJHL), who slipped one position to No. 7.
The Penticton Vees (BCHL) held on to the No. 1 slot.
The defending RBC Cup champion Portage Terriers (MJHL) edged up one spot to No. 2 while the reigning Dudley Hewitt Cup champion Soo Thunderbirds (NOJHL) dropped to No. 3.
The Trenton Golden Hawks (OJHL) and Brooks Bandits (AJHL) round out the top five.
The Lakers (36-6-0-1) continue their push towards locking up top spot in the SIJHL, and home-ice advantage throughout the playoffs, when they host the last-place English River Miners (11-29-1-4) tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the Ice For Kids Arena.
David Pryde also is listed as “day-to-day” with a shoulder injury suffered in practice Sunday.
But fellow forward Julian Uhryniuk should be good to go tonight despite suffering a possible broken nose in Friday’s win over the North Stars.
Forward Dylan Kooner (scapula) and defenceman Roshen Jaswal (wrist) remain out indefinitely.
